It is a great honor to have been featured in the Stories & Insights series of the fantastic Canvas Rebel magazine. I am deeply grateful to Jessica Ramirez for providing me with this wonderful opportunity to share my experiences with the readers of Canvas Rebel. It’s a privilege to contribute to such a reputable and insightful publication, and I hope my story can inspire and inform others who are passionate about the design field.

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Harsha Chathuranga. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Harsha below.

Harsha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?

Learning is a lifelong process, and I’m constantly seeking new opportunities to expand my skills and knowledge in my field. When it comes to design, I had the opportunity of learning from some of the best professionals in the industry, as well as through my practice and mistakes. Mastering graphic design is a gradual process that requires time, commitment, and dedication to develop a strong skill set. I’ve also found that staying up to date with the latest design trends and tools is crucial for success in this field.

I firmly believe that a solid understanding of design fundamentals, including color theory, typography, and layout, is essential in building a portfolio. It’s also important to be able to communicate effectively with clients and team members, as well as to be able to adapt to new challenges and technologies.

Time constraints, a lack of resources, and a fear of failure are all obstacles to learning more. However, pushing through these obstacles and staying committed to learning have been vital to my growth as a designer.

In short, being proficient at what I do has required constant practice, dedication, and a passion for seeking new growth opportunities.
